Cartagena is one of Colombia’s oldest and most preserved historic cities. It was founded in the 1530’s by the Spanish crown that wrestled it from the indigenous and fierce Caribe Indians, the initial inhabitants in Pre-Columbian times. The wall surrounding the old town and guarding it from the bay is over 6 miles long and within it Cartagena is a town were time stands still. The Hard Rock Cafe is situated at the very heart of this living monument in the town square - "la plaza de la Aduana" - near the historic clock tower entrance in a house displayed on ancient maps dating to the 1550’ s. It is said Sir Francis Drake himself stayed here.
Preserving the colonial architectural style, this 225 seater Cafe blends into the landscape with 2 floors, a main and lounge bar, a VIP room and balconies that overlook the town square and the bay, plus a beautiful outdoor colonial patio for special events or alfresco dining. The Rock Shop and its array of authentic, collectible Hard Rock merchandise rounds off a perfect blend of history, great food and service and modern day rock 'n' roll music.
