JASON MRAZ

Curbside prophet may have been an applicable description when he first broke onto the scene in 2002, but with 2008’s We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things. (and three subsequent Grammy nominations), Jason Mraz has been elevated to something more along the lines of a musical Nostradamus – a status foretold by his two legendary performances at London's Hard Rock Calling.

Growing up in suburban Virginia, Mraz's interest in musical theatre set his stage for greater things, piquing his interest in voice and song, leading him to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC after high school. Though he didn't complete his studies there, his voice training came in handy when he made the move from theatre to songwriting, moving from the musical street corners of NYC, where he busked with the best of 'em, to the coffee houses of San Diego, where he eventually set up a weekly residency at a prominent local hot spot.

From there, Mraz's talents grew in assurance and passion. He knew what he wanted to do and didn't take no for an answer, no matter who said it. Eventually, his sounds blanketed much of southern California, reaching the ears of record execs in Los Angeles and landing Mraz a record deal. Since 2002, Mraz has released three albums, Waiting For My Rocket To Come, Mr. A-Z, and We Sing. We Dance. We Steal Things, his biggest album to date. Now, despite having his best-selling album ever in this past year, we expect Jason's star to continue rising, for his name to grace the tongues of music lovers the world over. He's well on his way and we congratulate him on his success, knowing full well his ride has just begun.
